Logan's first T-ball game!
Yesterday March 5th was opening day ceremonies at Pinellas Park National Little League. This is Logan's first year playing T-ball and my first time ever coaching T-ball! We had such a fun day, although it was a bit crazy for me as a coach. We started the day off with a healthy "power" breakfast. A egg sandwhich on whole wheat english muffins, yogurt & grapes with a galss of milk. My sister Christina and her girlfriend Meghan baby-sat the twins for me so I could focus on getting my team ready for pictures. We arrived at the field at 9:40 met up with all the parents and kids and handed out our team shirts and hats. Once the kids were all gathered up we took our pictures and man they were so cute! Logan had the biggest smile on his face-I cannot wait to see his pictures!
After pictures we had our opening ceremony which was like deja vu for me because I played in little league for eight years and have so many good memories from those days. But for five 4 year olds, one 5 year old and one 3 year old hearing a speech from the Mayor wasn't fun at all LOL. Good thing I was prepared and brought some crackers.
Our first game was on field three at 1:30 and I was just as excited as the kids were! I'm thankful to have a great assitant coach who's son has been in T-ball for 3 years now and he has alot of good knowledge on how to direct the younger kids. The first rule in T-ball is safety-when you five kids diving for one ball it can get messy LOL.
Logan was so cute. I caught him picking a weggie at second base one time and it reminded me of my sister Amber when she was that age-she was always picking weggies on the field LOL. He would get so excited when he got the ball and he would just have a HUGE smile on his face-but then wasnt too sure what to do with it LOL. He had a small breakdown at one point and started to cry, I had to ignore my tiger mother instincts and explain to him that he would get his turn. We had a few other meltdowns from some of the other players as well but all in all it was fun first game and I learned alot as a mother and coach. It'll be so fun doing this every Saturday morning and to see Logan learn more and more every week. I love my slugger.
