What an absolute insane week this has been! Last thursday Scott was suppsed to return home-he is stationed on the Coast Guard Cutter Resolute. Due to t he absolute crazy weather we were having that week the boat had to stay in the bay and was unable to pull in on time. The one hour delay turned into a three hour delay...then a six hour delay and before you knew it I was sitting at my mother-in-laws house in tear's because my husband told me they would in the bay all night long.
Even though it was ONE day it seemed like a cruel joke. My kids were excited, I put on a skirt and put special CG princess bows in the girls hair and I had promised my son that his daddy would finally be home. I am SO grateful for my husbands family-they kept the kids and I distracted as we watched the storm blow through St.Pete knowing daddy was out in this weather.
So despite his homecoming delay the Resolute was able to pull in the next morning at 8:30 a.m. Since Scott had duty we decided to skip the boat pulling in due to all the stress the kids had been put through the day before. We dressed up again and picked him up at 6:30 that night and it was such a relief to hold him in my arms again. The kids grins and squeals of happiness were worth every minute of waiting.
I was unable to get really good homecoming pictures-Scott was waiting outside the boat with his suitcase ready to jump in our jeep and drive away. Just having him home again was all we needed.
We went to Jotot's pizza down the street from our apartments. We had salad, joto fingers and of course there delicous pizza! After dinner Scott played some video arcade games with the kids.
The next day we went to the beach with Scott's sister Emily and his mom Wendy. Wendy had to leave to get ready for work but I know Scott was happy to see his mom-even if it was for ten minutes. We had a wonderful time! My sister Amber's fiance Chris came out and hung out with us too so it was a nice family day. Indian Roacks is a beautiful beach and the wind was kicking that day so it made the heat of the day seem like nothing. Which is quite something in Florida (we all know the heat is killer down here!)
After the beach we came back home and grilled out. My sister Amber, my husbands Dad, Wayne and one of my best Friends Sonia came over to eat with us. We had a wonderful night with family and friends but after the craziness of the last three days were exhausted!
I feel so blessed to have my husband home again and to feel safe in his arms. Our love grows stronger for each other every day that we are together, heart, soul and mind.
